About GMSI

The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute, located in Rochester, Vermont, is an approved Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Institute for string, flute, and piano students ages 4-18. This year, 2009, marks our 6th year in Rochester, and our 5th year as a Suzuki Institute. Our enthusiastic professional staff is committed to creating an inspiring week of music and fun for your family, providing motivation and reinforcement for home study.

Each student at the institute has a master class and a group lesson every day. In addition, each student also chooses elective classes including: African Drumming, African Dance, Art, String Orchestra, Composition, Theater, and Puppetry. Advanced students may participate in a Chamber Music group, working every day with piano, flute and string coaches.

A parent is required to accompany the student throughout each day. The Institute is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with other parents and teachers, reinforce each other's efforts, and learn new skills for working with their children. Every year, parents tell us that attending GMSI with their children is the "best family vacation" they have ever had!
