Sunday Afternoon Check-In, Group Lessons, and Picnic Supper, July 5th
Our week begins on Sunday at 12:30 pm with registration check-in in the lobby of the Rochester School. All students will receive their schedules for the week and their t-shirts at this time, as well as orientation information. At 2:30 pm we will meet in the Auditorium for orientation and staff introductions. From 3:00-3:45 pm, all instrument group lessons will meet in assigned classrooms. At 4:00 pm, Ben Gish, cello and Cynthia Huard, piano, will perform in the Rochester School auditorium. Bring-your-own-picnic supper and ice cream social (we'll provide the ice cream, donated by the Domas Family of the Rochester Cafe) on the town green will round out our afternoon/evening following the concert.
The Daily Program: Monday through Thursday, July 6th to July 9th
Classes will begin Monday morning at 8:40 a.m. It is advisable to check the lobby every morning for announcements and other information. Remember that parents are required to accompany their children throughout the day.
LUNCH from noon until 1:00
Class 4 meets from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Mini-recitals in various locations, 2:10 p.m. - 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Class 5 meets from 2:50 p.m. until 3:50 p.m.
Note that you may request that one of your class times be a practice time in lieu of an elective class.
At the end of the day, look for a pick-up soccer game on the school's athletic field, independent chamber rehearsals scheduled for older students, pick-up improv band in the music room, and the possibility of swimming in the White River or tennis behind the school.
The Daily Program: Thursday , July 9th, Electives Performances
On Thursday afternoon, beginning at 4:15 the electives classes will be given the opportunity to do demonstrations or performances of their work from the week in the gymnasium of the Rochester School. This will be followed by a community-wide supper and Contra Dance!
The Daily Program: Friday, July 10th
Only instrument classes meet on Friday: master classes, group lessons, chamber groups, and piano duets. These classes meet for only 30 minutes each, finishing up at 12:00 noon. There will be a lunch break, followed at 1:15 p.m. by a concert of chamber music, and then at 3:15 we will present piano duets/groups and Suzuki repertoire play-downs from the cellists, flutists, and violinists. This will be followed by a final reception before we all say "good-bye" for another year.
Non-Suzuki Students
Students not currently enrolled in a Suzuki program are welcome, but require prior approval from the Director, Jody Woos (802) 453-2360.
Non-Instrument Sibling Program
Siblings of students attending the camp are eligible for up to 3 elective classes (excluding chamber music, piano duets, orchestra and composition) on a space available basis for ages 4 and up.
